YUM @ Cowcross Yards

Cowcross Yards will celebrate its rich culinary history with YUM @ Cowcross Yards: a series of events, activations and animations for local residents, visitors and workers to enjoy.

Show Us Ya Buns challenge

Cowcross Yards and Urban Food Fest have decided to temporarily close the weekly street food market and our events, which includes YUM: Hot cross @ Cowcross Yards that was set to take place on 2 April.

As we are now working from home, we want to bring the YUM to you. This Easter, we are celebrating Britain’s best-loved baked treat, the hot cross bun and we are setting Londoners the challenge to ‘Show Us Ya Buns.’

We are calling all budding bakers to put on their chef’s hat and cook up a storm. Any keen bakers wanting to take part can share their weird and wonderful recipes, or can even bake their own twist on classic hot cross buns and share their goodies with us by tagging @cowcrossyards on Instagram or Facebook, using #CowcrossShowUsYaBuns.

To take part in the #CowcrossShowUsYaBuns challenge:

  • Take the Cowcross Yards special recipe – visit here for the recipe
  • Add your twist – either create an unusual recipe or go the extra mile and actually bake a bun using the ingredients that you already have in your cupboards – sugared almonds, popping candy, hot fudge, peanut butter, candy floss, whatever you like!
  • Share your images/recipes on Instagram or Facebook tagging @cowcrossyards with the hashtag #CowcrossShowUsYaBuns
  • Points go to those buns that are mouth-watering yet extraordinary flavours, or fun presentations! Go on and show us ya buns!

* Each week Cowcross Yards will pick their favourite bun(s) and re-share them on Instagram and Facebook. The challenge is live now and closes on Easter Sunday.

Puds and Trees market

As part of its second ‘YUM @ Cowcross Yards’ – Puds and Trees Market – Cowcross Yards is offering three days of festive food and drink, as well as London’s first ever ‘Christmas Pudding Tree’.
Kicking off on Wednesday 11th December, the Puds and Trees Market will be open between 4.30pm-7.30pm, inviting the capital’s foodies to meander through the twinkling lights of its newly-installed urban forest and seek out a sumptuous dish from one of the many resident food vendors organised by Urban Food Fest. Visitors will get the chance to gaze at the jaw-dropping ‘Christmas Pudding Tree’ centerpiece of the market before picking their own free pudding from the tree. What’s more, foodies should prepare for the surprise from the pudding itself – what flavour will they get? Traditional recipe or modern twist?
On Thursday 12th and Friday 13th December, the Puds and Trees Market will continue with daytime dishes between 11am-2.30pm. Guests can expect delicious festive treats as they immerse themselves in Christmas with a sanctuary of seasonal flavours, tastes and smells.
*Entrance to YUM @ Cowcross Yards is completely free. Food from the vendors starts from £4. The free puddings from the tree are one per person, whilst stocks last.

The Feast of Fall

‘The Feast of Fall’, a celebration of seasonality – will take place on Thursday 7 November 2019. Guests to the free event will be served chocolate soil and other sweet treats disguised as seasonal produce, served in a terracotta pot by a gardener. ‘The Feast of Fall’ will be open from 12pm until 4pm.
Here is exactly what will be on offer (on a first come first served basis):
